Business Wales is a service that provides impartial, independent support and advice to people starting, running and growing a business in Wales.
We partnered with the Welsh Government to deliver an ERDF-funded programme of Superfast Business support for SMEs throughout Wales. The key aim was to educate businesses on the benefits of using online technology, new software and cloud-based solutions.
To ensure full participation at the seminars we were also required to stimulate uptake from eligible local businesses of the Superfast Business Programme and communicate the benefits of the programme efficiently as part of a wider strategic plan.
The benefits to these businesses included improved efficiencies through streamlining processes, reducing costs, working remotely and ultimately business growth that increased Growth Value Added (GVA) and job creation across Wales.
Through our extensive ERDF experience, we understand the need to implement consistent, high-quality business support, with robust methodology and evaluation.
To ensure that businesses understood the benefits of better connectivity, and to stimulate demand for the update of fibre, we were asked to help develop the programme syllabus including having direct input into digital marketing module for 2018 and the revised modules for 2019.
The digital marketing module was delivered to businesses through either group Masterclasses where a variety of topics such as social media, websites, digital marketing and looking at available analytical tools to boost businesses effectiveness were covered or through specialist workshops.
A key challenge to this project was also providing consistent high-quality programme delivery across a remote and rural area. To ensure that ERDF targets were not only met, but exceeded. We monitored outputs closely and working with the delivery team at Serco to ensure the delegates received the appropriate support.
